This is a recipe and not a “pattern” because it includes very loose direction only, rather than meticulously detailed step-by-step instructions. It is more like a classic European-style pattern, wherein the knitter is expected to have some prior knowledge of various techniques. You don’t necessarily need to know these techniques beforehand, so long as you can competently make an online search.
Details:
Makes 1 pair of adult size small socks
Socks are worked from cuff to toe.
Materials:
1 skein MC sock weight yarn
1 skein CC sock weight yarn
US size 1 dpn needles (or circular, for magic loop method) or size needed for desired gauge
Gauge: 36.5 sts and 44 rows over 4” x 4”
Finished measurements (I’m only including circumference measurements here because I do not include length instructions):
Rib: 6.5” around unstretched
Body of the sock: 7.75” around unstretched
Instructions:
Make 2
CO 64 sts in MC
Knit in 2x2 rib for 20 rounds.
Knit in stockinette, inc by 1 st after every 8 sts. If your sts are evenly divided over 4 dpns, you will increase two times for every needle (72 sts).
Knit chart around to desired length.

Work a German short row heel over 36 sts. (Afterthought heel would work here, too).
Continue knitting chart around, picking up where you left off, until desired length (account for toe length - about 2 in.)
Work toe using preferred top-down method. I used a wedge toe, until I had 36 sts 32 sts on my needle.
Close off toe and weave in ends. Block to finish.
